Late night shopping gospel style

High Chelmer

On Thursday 6th December 2012, we entertained late night shoppers with a sing-along event in the High Chelmer centre. Part of the £1000 Chelmsford Grand Award we won earlier in the year, the evening was the grand finale of five public workshops we hosted during November.

Our long standing members and new workshop participants sang side by side, providing an hour of uplifting singing to start the festive season. And what a sound! Boosted by audio equipment kindly loaned by James Dace Music, Moulsham Street, we made the most of the amazing acoustics right outside Primark.

The audience joined in with ‘The Twelve Days of Christmas’ and gave us their reactions:

  • It was really impressive, really professional, really together.
  • You are singing beautifully, there is a lot of harmony there and it’s a pleasure to listen.
  • Absolutely brilliant and a wonderful place to sing because of the volume.
  • Nice to have something different with the African songs – you certainly have a good sound..

Annual Concert

Our second annual concert was held on the 30th October 2012 to a packed Elim Life Church.

Falling within Black History Month and school half term, Tuesday 30th October was a night of soulful and uplifting music for all the family. With songs chosen from modern, African and spiritual gospel traditions, led by our principal director Celia Wickham-Anderson from Black Voices and joined by talented guest performers, it was an evening of boundless enthusiasm with a professional edge.
